Despite a still uncertain future, Saab has rolled out a bevy of changes for its 2012 9-5. Saab has so far only confirmed the changes for the UK market, but it is expected that the tweaks will be headed to all global markets.
Although the exterior of 9-5 remains unchanged, Saab has tweaked the car’s underpinnings and its interior for 2012. Saab says the new car features revised chassis settings, resulting in greater ride refinement, especially on rougher roads. Saab also promises that the latest 9-5 is also more fun to drive. Underhood the 9-5’s current range of engines remain, but the Swedish automaker has managed to reduce emissions and increase fuel economy across the board. Saab engineers were able to cut CO2 emissions by 4.7 percent through fine tuning and the addition of automatic Start/Stop.
Inside Saab designers have updated the 9-5’s look with metallic-like trim finishes. Former upgrades like digital radio and satellite navigation are now standard for 2012, and top spec cars now get a multi-color main instrument display.
Of course, one of the biggest changes for the 2012 9-5 is the addition of a five-door wagon.
The 2012 Saab 9-5 is slated to hit European showrooms this fall, so look for a similar rollout in the United States.
